What to do about a Self-Absorbed Insensitive Bitch

An ircer I never met in real life, but chatted with intermittently for a few years, passed away suddenly.  I’ve been closer friends with her husband and have done what I could since her passing to help him grieve.

This post is not about Bill or his late wife, Amy.  Bill has been far more eloquent and poigniant a writer in his various places of public expression for me to venture into that area of prose.

No, this is about a self-absorbed insensitive bitch and something she wrote to Bill on a public forum - twitter.

At 12:51 PM Eastern on June 30th 2009, the twitter user (as of this writing) known as paige_BBI tweeted:

Apparently responding on twitter to condolence messages from his twitter followers was an unacceptable distraction from more important topics in paige’s twitter home page such as:

So, a turf war over iPhone hacking, multimedia messaging on an iPhone, and someone’s shit are topics so important to paige that Bill Bradford needed to shut up about his deceased wife to reduce the intrusion.  Alrighty then.

Bill did respond.  7 minutes later.

This wasn’t the first time paige learned about Amy’s passing.  Two irc channels paige and I are both on had discussed it frequently the two weeks between Amy’s passing and these events on twitter.  Over the next couple days, after five tweets about a visit to a hospital, four tweets about the iPhone, a tweet about a picture from fleet week, and two tweets about animal cruelty, paige followed up with:

This a few days after telling Bill to stfu, and after about half an hour of me referring to her only as self-absorbed insensitive bitch.  I seriously doubt she would have bothered if no one had actually challenged her about it.

Yeah, you’re worth keeping around.  Not.  Paige, get your self-absorbed insensitive bitch attitude out of my face.
